Dear Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, It is with my greatest pleasure to write to you about my one true love. Her name is Olivia Lamoureux, and she is simply the best person that has ever graced my presence. We are both 23 years old, and first met back in the fall of 2011 at Olds College. “Love at first sight” may seem cheesy or cliché, but that is exactly what happened! I asked her for a dance at a college gala and just could not keep my mind off of her after. She was so beautiful and had a very delicate nature to her. After a week we ran into each other on campus. Liv complimented me on a shirt I was wearing that day, and the rest is history! We are both shy individuals, so initially hanging out with each other was a bit intimidating and nerve-wracking. However, little details about her started to surface and I just became more engrossed with her. We had the same strange love of listening to softer music such as the Beatles or Elton john, but also liked listening to heavy metal music right after playing “Crocodile Rock”. She loves camping just like me, and enjoys beings in the outdoors. When I found out she had an undying love for old Volkswagen Camper Vans, I just could not stop finding out more details about Olivia! Within a month, I asked her to become my girlfriend. Since that moment, my life has been filled with nothing but laughs, kisses and always looking out for each other. That is the quality I love most about Olivia, no matter the situation we always face the challenge together as a team. I always have my best friend beside me and that makes me just feel so amazingly loved. At this time of writing you this letter, we have been dating for 4 years, 7 months, and 2 days. During this time, many challenges have come our way. We recently got an apartment at the beginning of April and are happily living together in Calgary. Prior to this, the entire time we were dating long distance (I used to live in Didsbury, while Olivia used to live in Highriver). There were times where we would only see each other at school or when one of us had a day off or two from work. We didn’t care though. It did not stop us back then and now we are reaping the rewards of our patience and faith in one another. I truly believe our success is due to the fact that we put daily effort into our relationship and never take it for granted. Even though we live together now, we still write letters to each other in a notebook every morning in our kitchen. Before she goes to work I will write a letter wishing her good morning and hoping she has a wonderful day. If we don’t write a physical letter, then it is a giant wall of text reminiscent of what we texted each other every morning when we lived apart. I believe your rings would have a perfect home with Olivia and me. Even though you stated that giving the rings away would close a chapter, I truly believe that is only halve of the truth. It is not just the closing of chapter, but also a start of a new chapter of happiness and love. Soon followed by a lifelong story of two characters overcoming all obstacles in their way and emerging victorious together! These rings would symbolize all the feelings and commitments we have currently made and will make. I can’t even come close to how much these rings must have meant to you. The memories attached to deciding to purchase them, the feelings towards the receiver of the rings and so many other emotions attached to these rings are tremendous. I do know that Olivia means everything to me and the least I can do is to symbolize how we feel towards each other. We would honour you and these rings by always respecting and loving each other in everything we do. Thank you Michael for taking the time to read this letter and considering this form of application. This would mean the world for me to be able to marry this lady who has positively impacted my life forever. Best of regards, Keegan Paton
